Welcome to the ITKB. Use this database to find answers to questions about information technology at CSULB and contribute knowledge.

Search the ITKB

Search the ITKB from the search box on the homepage. When you type a search string, the ITKB will look for a matching instance in all knowledgebase articles. Matching articles will appear in a list on the next page when you click Search (or hit Enter).

  1. Go to www.csulb.edu/itkb
  2. Enter a search string in the search box.

Browse Labels

As additional documents are added, labels will appear in the "Browse by Label" section on the homepage for easy browsing. Labels are listed alphabetically. Simply click a label to view all related articles.

Contribute to the ITKB

Campus technical coordinators can contribute to the ITKB by submitting articles for approval and publishing. Note that you must be granted permission in order to contribute. All ITSC members have permissions to contribute to the ITKB.  If you are uncertain or wish to verify if you have permissions, please contact itkb@csulb.edu for inquiries.

Requirements:

Method 1:  Importing an MS Word document

  1. Be sure you are logged in by clicking the Login link in the upper right corner and using your Beach ID credentials.

  2. Click the Spaces dropdown menu in the upper left of the screen, and then select the Space directory link.  Then select Suggested Content from the list.
  3. Click the "Tools" menu (the three dots in the upper-right screen) and click "Import Word Document."

  4. Browse to the document, click Open and click Next.

  5. Enter the official page title in the "Root Page Title" field. It will be populated with the document title by default. Click Import > Continue.

  6. When you receive the warning that you are creating a new page, click Continue.

  7. After the article is created, you have the option of creating additional "labels" to optimize searching for the article.  To do so, open the article in Edit mode.  The labels section is located at the top right area of the header in edit mode repreented by the label icon.  Click the label icon to edit search labels. A Labels dialog box will appear. Labels with more than one word need to be separated with a dash. Example: Outlook-2010

  8. Click "Add" to add the labels and click Close. Labels will show up on the homepage under the "Browse Labels" section after the article is published.

  9. The final step is to move the article to its appropriate KB space and category.  You can notify ITKB@csulb.edu to request this step.  Until this step is performed, your article will not be available for end users. 

Method 2:  Using the "Create" button

  1. Click the Login link in the upper right corner and login with your Beach ID account (9-digit employee ID and password)
  2. Click the Spaces dropdown menu in the upper left of the screen.  Select the Space directory link.  Then select Suggested Content from the list.
  3. Click the yellow Create button to start creating an article from scratch while using the supplied toolbar for basic formatting.  Click Publish when you're done.

   4. After the article is created, you have the option of creating additional "labels" to optimize searching for the article.  To do so, open the article in Edit mode.  The labels section is located at the top right area of the header in edit mode represented by the label icon.  Click the label icon to edit search labels. A Labels dialog box will appear. Labels with more than one word need to be separated with a dash. Example: Outlook-2010

   5. Click "Add" to add the labels and click Close. Labels will show up on the homepage under the "Browse Labels" section after the article is published.

   6.  Notify ITKB@csulb.edu with your request to review and post your newly created article in the appropriate KB space.  Until this step is performed, your article will not be available for end users.

To update existing ITKB content, please email your request to itkb@csulb.edu.
