University Student Work-From-Home Scam

This is an advisory of a known phishing threat targeting university students.

Advisory Detail

The FBI has issued an advisory of a threat targeting U.S. university students. Emails are sent to school email accounts under the guise of work-from-home employment opportunities for payroll and/or human resource positions. The supposed employment position requires the student to provide bank account information to receive direct deposit fund transfers. The scammers use the student's bank account to transfer stolen funds from a separate victim's bank account, thereby rendering the unsuspecting student an accessory to the cyber crime.
